About me

Welcome to My Little Corner of the Ocean

I’m Hans Peter, a retired electronic engineer who has always been drawn to exploration and adventure. Over the years, that curiosity has taken me to many places — but the most fascinating discoveries have always been beneath the waves.

I grew up in Germany, and what started as a love for the sea soon turned into something much deeper. In 1987, I became a PADI SCUBA Instructor, and from that moment on, diving became an inseparable part of my life. More than 2,500 dives later, I’ve been lucky enough to experience the incredible variety of marine life that fills our oceans — from tiny, curious creatures to the vast silence of deep blue water that feels almost otherworldly.

Somewhere along the way, I picked up a camera. At first, it was just to document my dives, but photography quickly became another passion. It gave me a way to capture moments that words can’t quite describe — the way light filters through the water, the calm of a coral reef at dawn, or the rugged beauty of a windswept coastline. Every image on this site comes from my own experiences, each one a small piece of the larger journey.

Although this page is a private space, I enjoy sharing these memories with others who appreciate the beauty of nature and the spirit of adventure. You’re welcome to browse through the galleries, and if one of my photos inspires you, feel free to use it for non-commercial purposes.

For the past few years, I’ve found peace on the Costa Brava, where I keep a small vacation home close to the sea. Still, my travels have taken me far and wide — more than fifty countries in total, both for work and pleasure. Most of the time, things went well; now and then there were challenges, but I’ve learned that it’s better to focus on solutions than on problems.

Travel has also taught me something important: people everywhere share the same warmth and kindness. Speaking several languages helps, of course, but it’s not always necessary. A friendly smile and open gestures can bridge almost any gap.

There’s one simple rule that has guided me through both diving and life:

Stop. Think. Act.

It’s as true underwater as it is on land.

Thank you for visiting my little corner of the ocean. I hope my stories and images inspire you to explore, to slow down, and to find your own moments of wonder.
